Whether you are carefully storing your lace threads or putting the family christening gown away for future generations, there are a number of things you must do to keep textiles safe. Insects, dust and sunlight are all very harsh and are the leading causes of damage to threads and fibres. Skin oils and sweat from wear are next in line, and possets from babies on infant garments.
It stands to reason then, protect your textiles from insect infiltration by storing in insect proof containers, lined with acid free tissue, away from sunlight. Wash garments and other fabrics well before storing using Orvus and distilled water.
